Our parents and grandparents often took numerous pictures,
which we inherit, often without the background to understand what they
represent. It can be a major chore just to get the people identified, much less
reveal how these people from our past impacted those who took the pictures, and,
through them, ourselves.

Tons of snapshots have been processed and then stored away in shoeboxes and
drawers. We inherit so many fragile photographs of long forgotten aunts and
uncles, and once dear family friends. We
puzzle over the time worn treasures of our family’s history and wonder who
these people were and how we are connected to them.
Maybe it’s not too late to put names and dates to many of these dimming
faces. The ability to scan,
preserve and share these heirlooms is now at
our fingertips.

More old photos, scanned and repaired, some taken over 60
years ago, to share
with distant family. Brightened,
clarified, straightened, cropped, cracks and creases repaired, with
Corel PaintShop 9. Because the original prints were scanned at a high
resolution, 300 to 400 dpi, depending on the size of the print, the
repaired images can be reprinted in a larger size than the original,
sometimes bringing long forgotten, precious memories to life. We created
an album at dotPhoto because of the ease of purchasing prints of the
desired sizes and because the cost is very reasonable.
